Roundup · 2026

Best gym management software in New Zealand

Six options, what each is genuinely good at, and who should pick which. Written by one of them — which is why every entry says what it does better than us.

Figures last checked All pricing NZD unless statedRe-verified quarterly (14d)

The three questions that decide it

  1. 1. What’s the total cost?

Subscription plus any percentage of member payments. The second one is usually bigger and never appears on an invoice.

  2. 2. Can it direct-debit New Zealand members?

Direct debit is the rail NZ gyms run on. Some international platforms only support cards here, which means collecting manually — not a workaround at 200 members.

  3. 3. What do your members actually get?

Every platform ships a member app. Most are a timetable. It decides whether anyone opens it twice.

GymMaster

GymMasterbest for NZ gyms wanting one local vendor

Christchurch, New Zealand · founded 1997

Christchurch-built, in 75+ countries, and the highest-rated NZ-native option — 4.7/5 from 165 NZ reviews.

Best for
Gyms with no access hardware who want one company to supply, install and support everything. That’s a genuinely tidy package.
Watch for
Door access needs their proprietary hub and readers, so existing smart locks have to be replaced — and if you leave, the readers only ever worked with them.

Best for
Studios where discovery is the problem. The consumer app has around 3 million users and drives real first-time bookings.

Best for
Very small or brand-new gyms where a percentage of not much is genuinely not much.

PATO

PATObest for member engagement and retention

Aotearoa New Zealand · built by NEZIAK

Our own entry, so weigh it accordingly.

Pricing
$99 / $249 / $499 per month by member count. No commission on member payments. Branded member app included on every plan.
Best for
Gyms whose problem is retention rather than discovery. The member app is a full AI companion — nutrition logging, plan generation, progress tracking, rewards — rather than a booking screen.
Watch for
We’re new, with no decade of logos. No consumer marketplace and no lead management / CRM — if acquisition is your bottleneck, Mindbody or PushPress fit better.

Four of those five point somewhere other than us. That’s the point of a roundup — if your problem isn’t the one we solve, we’d rather you found the right answer here than the wrong one from us.

Competitor figures are read off each vendor’s published pricing page and re-verified quarterly. Where a vendor doesn’t publish a figure, this page says so rather than estimating one.
